Scholars and coaching staff take part in Coach Development Series

County’s Academy Scholars took part in a practical coaching session on Wednesday evening as part of the Men’s National League Coach Development series at FC United of Manchester, in conjunction with The Football Association and League Managers Association.

The evening started with first team manager Dave Challinor sharing insights around his game approach and the work undertaken during a matchday preparation week. This was followed by a Q&A session with those who attended the event.

The practical coaching session was then delivered by both first team and Professional Development Phase (PDP) staff. This was observed by over 60 coaches and managers from different clubs across the North-West region. This was a great experience for the Scholars, not only to be coached and observed by first team staff, but also to show their talents to on-looking coaches. The players were praised for their attitude, application and high standard of performance.

The Football Association and League Managers Association commented that it was great to see the collaboration of first team and PDP coaches, and also how MDT work together to ensure a high standard of coaching.

First team Coach Dave Conlon said:

“It was brilliant to work with Jamie (Crowther) and Bully and coach the Scholars together, and get to see them all so early into the season. I was really impressed with the standard, and the first team staff are looking forward to watching the boys develop this season.”

PDP Lead Coach Jamie Crowther added:

“Wednesday night was a great opportunity for our players and staff to be able to have the opportunity to work with the first-team manager and first-team coach Dave Conlon. We have discussed the opportunities that the lads will get over the course of their time with us and for some of the new players this was their first taste. The attitude and quality they showed was highlighted by not only the first team staff but also the coaches observing, which is great to hear. An excellent start to pre season.”
