Referee Watch: Woolmer appointed for game against the champions

Referee Andy Woolmer has been appointed to take charge of Saturday’s fixture between County and League Two champions Leyton Orient at Brisbane Road.

It will be the second time this season that the experienced official has taken charge of a game involving County, having also overseen our 2-1 win away at Newport County in November. It will be his first time refereeing Leyton Orient, meanwhile, since November 2020 when he took charge for their 2-1 defeat away at Forest Green Rovers.

Woolmer took charge of 31 games in all competitions last season, 22 of them coming in the Championship, during which time he issued 100 yellow cards, one red card and awarded three penalties.

So far this campaign he has taken charge of 32 games, the majority in the Championship and League One, issuing 108 yellows, five reds and pointing to the penalty spot a further three times. His last game saw him take charge of Exeter City 1-2 Derby County in League One, on April 18th.

His assistants on the day will be Mark Stevens and Graham Kane, whilst James Oldham will be taking up the Fourth Official duties.
