Referee Watch: Howard appointed for Mansfield clash

Referee Paul Howard has been selected to take charge of Saturday’s League Two fixture between County and Mansfield Town at Edgeley Park.

It will be the official’s first time refereeing a game involving County, in what is his third season now as an EFL referee. His last game involving Mansfield came in September 2021 when he was in charge for their 3-1 defeat at home to Harrogate Town, in which he showed red cards to two Mansfield players.

In total he took charge of 29 games last season, mostly in League Two, issuing 95 yellow cards, five red cards and awarding seven penalties.

In the 18 games he has overseen so far this campaign, he has shown 42 yellows, three reds and pointed to the penalty spot on six occasions. His most recent game saw him take charge of Fleetwood v Port Vale in League One, a game that finished 1-1 last Saturday.

Howard will be assisted on the day by Wayne Grunnill & Danny Jarvis, whilst the Fourth Official will be Scott Jackson.
