County proud to support Rainbow Laces campaign

At Stockport County, we’re proud to be supporting Stonewall’s iconic Rainbow Laces campaign during Saturday’s game against Sutton United at Edgeley Park, in support of the LGBTQ+ community.

To help raise awareness of the campaign, rainbow-coloured corner flags will be used on the day, whilst Paddy Madden will be wearing a special, dedicated captain’s armband. The famous rainbow laces themselves have also been made available for players to wear during the game.

The Rainbow Laces campaign has become a symbol of inclusion across all sports since its launch in 2013, serving as a reminder that football is a game for everyone. At the Football Club, we remain dedicated to promoting and celebrating diversity and equality across the game and our wider community, and encourage everyone to play their part in making football everybody’s game.

Stephen Bowyer, Stockport Pride Chairperson, said:

“Members of the LGBTQ+ community have found barriers to participation within all levels of football across the UK and worldwide. We hope that campaigns such as Stonewall’s Rainbow Laces and further work between the LGBTQ+ community and Stockport County can help make our local club a more friendly and welcoming environment for everyone.”

Countless individuals, grassroots organisations, and football clubs are already ‘lacing up’ to keep up their work for sports inclusion. We know we’re always strongest when we stand together – so join us in keeping it up!

Lace up. Speak up. Make sport everyone’s game.
