The County Community Trust is proud to be delivering the PLPS funded by The National League Trust and the Premier League. We work closely with primary schools within the Stockport and surrounding areas to support healthy and active lifestyles, as well as delivering key messages to create positive futures.

The programme aims to use the appeal of the Premier League and Stockport County to inspire children to learn, be active and develop important life skills. Learning is connected to the real world of sport to enthuse pupils when tackling challenging PSHE topics such as resilience, diversity, self-esteem and anti-bullying.
County Community Trust works with the framework of the national curriculum and the vision and values of the Premier League Primary Stars programme, to develop the skills and ambitions of Teachers, Boys and Girls aged 5 to 11, both actively and also in the classroom through Physical Education.
CONTINUOUS PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
We extend the programme to primary school teachers as well as pupils through the delivery of the PE curriculum focusing on holistic child development. We focus on mentoring and supporting primary school teachers so they develop confidence, knowledge and skills to be able to deliver high quality PE and school sport in their school, ensuring the children are given the best support possible for their future.
PLPS EXTRA-CURRICULAR CLUBS
As part of our County Community Trust’s PLSP Programme, we provide extra-curricular clubs which include breakfast, lunchtime, and after-school clubs. The aim for this is to engage and improve the enjoyment of children taking part in physical activity and sport which will increase their confidence to continue their participation during clubs or entering a sporting pathway in the future.
INTER-SCHOOL COMPETITIONS
Throughout the academic year, as the clubs affiliated charity, the County Community Trust, we host and support various sporting competitions for young people to enjoy and take part in delivered by our team of professional, enthusiastic sports coaches.
These include the NLT Boys & Girls Cup where primary schools have the opportunity to compete for the chance to represent Stockport County at the North Regional Finals and potentially Wembley.
We also deliver Premier League Primary Stars competitions focusing on a variety of sports aiming to engage and support the development of individuals through giving them opportunities to take part in competition outside of school.
TARGETED INTERVENTION SESSIONS
This area of the PLPS programme supports primary schools looking to address the behaviours affecting learning through PSHE themes, which will also encompass supporting children’s physical and mental wellbeing. The emphasis is on empowering children to make sustainable improvements in their school and everyday life.
