Barry and Challinor nominated for League One awards

Stockport County manager, Dave Challinor and forward, Louie Barry have both been nominated for August’s Sky Bet League One awards.

The pair have both played a key role in our brilliant start to the new campaign, with the gaffer one of four nominations for the League One Manager of the Month award after guiding us to three wins and a draw – ending August top of the table on goal difference. The other managers nominated are Birmingham City’s Chris Davies, Wrexham’s Phil Parkinson and Lincoln City’s Michael Skubala.

On the pitch, Villa loanee, Barry has been nominated for the League One Player of the Month award after lighting up the division in August, scoring three spectacular goals from distance in our four league outings.

The 20-year-old, back for his second loan spell at Edgeley Park, marked his second County debut with an outrageous lob from distance just four minutes in to our opening day win over Cambridge United, and has gone from strength to strength since then with similarly special strikes against Blackpool and Bristol Rovers.

The other nominations for the award include Charlton Athletic’s Lloyd Jones, Birmingham’s Alfie May and Barnsley midfielder, Adam Phillips. The winners of both awards are set to be announced on Friday 13th September.
