The Club continue to break attendance records at Edgeley Park!

Saturday’s game against Rochdale saw County set yet another attendance record, in an incredible season at Edgeley Park.

10,319 fans were packed inside the ground at the weekend to see County make it 11-games unbeaten in League Two – our highest attendance of the season so far, setting a new club record for an all-seater Edgeley Park in the process.

Beating the previous record of 10,307, set against Halifax Town on the final day of last season, it is the highest attendance for a game in SK3 since over 11,000 watched us draw with Manchester City, all the way back in March 2000, with County fans everywhere backing our bid for back-to-back promotions.

Remarkably it is the sixth time this season that we have seen a 10,000+ crowd at Edgeley Park, with a seventh anticipated for our final game of the season against Hartlepool United; the home end already sold out for that fixture. That will equal the amount of 10k plus crowds we recorded over five seasons in the Championship, between 1997-2002.

We are set to record an average league attendance of over 9,000 for the first time since the 1966/67 Division Four title-winning season – crowds over 40% higher than in 1996/97, the club’s most successful ever season, and 60% higher than our Wembley-winning season in 2007/08. It is currently the second highest average home attendance in League Two, behind only Bradford City.

From all of us at Stockport County, we’d like to thank you once again for your phenomenal support, and for making our first year back in the EFL an unforgettable one. We can’t wait to see you all on the final day against Hartlepool United.

County CEO, Jonathan Vaughan said:

“The attendances home and away this season speak for themselves; we all felt the excitement and anticipation around the town heading into our first season back in the Football League, however the crowds at Edgeley Park in recent months have really surpassed expectations.

“The club is in a fantastic place both on and off the pitch right now, and the supporters play a fundamental part in that. It’s been fantastic to see the way they have responded to what we’ve done since coming in three years ago, there’s a real togetherness around the place. Additions such as the County Courtyard have helped make Edgeley Park a great place to come and watch football.

“The fanbase, like the club, is constantly growing and we know that this is just the start, with plans in place to expand the stadium. We have at least one more sell-out game to go, and we’re all looking forward to it – hopefully we will have something to celebrate together again come the end of the season.”
