Our Academy Scholars travelled to Cardiff last week to undergo a pre-season training camp, facing off against Cardiff City and Newport County. The Scholars set up camp at University of South Wales Sport Park, where the players used the dome facility, elite gym and analysis suite.
The young Hatters also took part in an analysis workshop during Cardiff City’s pre-season friendly against Penybont, before heading for team-building walks along Cardiff Bay.
Newport County
County began their pre-season tour with a 5-2 victory over Newport, courtesy of a first-half goal from Jayden Nkodia and two second-half braces from Marcus Kouam and Lee Williams.
Cardiff City
Our Scholars ended their pre-season trip with a defeat against Cardiff City, where the young Hatters fell to a 5-4 defeat. First-half goals from Lee Williams and Bruno Cina, before second-half goals from Louie Rawlinson and Mekhi Mcleod, were not enough as County fell just short.
Analysis Workshop
Following their game against Newport County, the Scholars travelled to Cardiff International Sports Campus to undertake an analysis workshop; watching on as Cardiff City took on Penybont. Each Scholar had one player assigned to them, to tally up their completed passes, crosses etc.
Training Facilities
The Scholars were provided with world-class training facilities during their stay in Cardiff, at the University of South Wales Sport Park. The U19 used the domed pitch facility, the elite gym/strength and conditioning room, and the analysis suite.
Team Building
The Scholars took part in a number of team building activities as the new intake of Scholars settled into life at County. The first and second year Scholars partnered up to learn more about each other, before heading out for walks along Cardiff Bay.
