Aki completes move to Scottish Premiership side

The Club can confirm that title-winning defender, Akil Wright has completed a permanent move to Scottish Premiership side Ross County for an undisclosed fee.

Aki departs having made 81 appearances in midfield and defence since joining us from York City on a free transfer two years ago, playing a big role in our success since returning to the EFL.

He was a key figure as County reached the League Two Play-Off final in his first season at the club, before playing a further 35 times in 2023/24 as we secured our first EFL title in 57 years. The 28-year-old featured in all 12 games during our club record winning run earlier in the season, and formed a rock solid defensive partnership alongside Fraser Horsfall in the New Year before injury cut his season short in February.

He scored four goals during his time at Edgeley Park, including a crucial second-half equaliser away at Barrow on Boxing Day 2023 and a stunner against Walsall at Edgeley Park just a few days later.

As he now departs north of the border, the club would like to place on record its thanks to Aki for his contributions during his time at Edgeley Park. He leaves as a title winner and with the best wishes of everyone at Stockport County in the next chapter of his career.
