25 local clubs receive grassroots football fund

Stockport County is pleased to announce that, following the launch of our grassroots football fund in April, a total of 25 local grassroots sides have been successful in applying for funding ahead of the 2023/24 season.

The fund, which totals up to £50,000, was set up earlier this year to support both male and female clubs based in the Metropolitan Borough of Stockport, providing up to £1,500 per club to help towards their running costs, covering expenditures such as new kits, pitch-hire, and club events.

The investment was distributed in-line with each individual club’s need, based on number of players and eligibility. The clubs are set to receive their funding in the coming weeks, helping them to prepare for the upcoming season and provide the best possible footballing experience to boys and girls across the borough.

The successful clubs that will receive funding are:

  • Adswood United Football Club
  • AFC Stockport
  • Bramhall North 75
  • Cheadle and Gatley JFC
  • Cheadle Town Juniors
  • Great Moor County Junior Football Club
  • Hazel Grove United FC
  • High Lane Football Club
  • Hillgate FC
  • Inter Cheadle JFC
  • JFC Phoenix
  • Lostock Rangers JFC
  • Marple Athletic JFC
  • Offerton Park Football Club
  • Queensgate FC
  • Reddish North End Football Club
  • Reddish Villa JFC
  • Reddish Vulcans Junior Football Club
  • Richmond Rovers JFC
  • Rose Hill Junior Football Club
  • Stockport Cosmos JFC
  • Stockport Dynamoes
  • Stockport Georgians FC
  • Stockport Vikings FC
  • Woodley Albion JFC

Alongside the investment, all successful applicants will also be able to take part in the newly launched County Cup, an opportunity for selected age groups to battle it out against each other to be crowned champions. The knock-out competition will be organised by Stockport County’s academy, with finalists from each age group going on to battle it out at a final held at Edgeley Park.

Congratulations to all the successful applicants – we hope the funding contributes towards a memorable and successful 2023/24 season for everyone. At Stockport County, we remain committed towards helping grassroots football thrive across the borough, making it accessible to as many people as possible – bringing benefits to the club, to the town, and to our community.
